BCLead is on a distinguished road
We just returned from Freshman Orientation at IU. According to an employee at IU Memorial Union, There was some flooding at Memorial Stadium. Apparently, all the water from the parking lots drained onto the football and caused a possible sinkhole in the endzone. He also said that Jordan River, that flows through campus almost flooded the Union building. We saw no damage ourselves. The campus was beautiful as usual.

gimme it, not sure how I missed this earlier. Monroe County was mainly hit with flash flooding. Some downtown areas and shops along Kirkwood had water come in and out. Basements that have never flooded before did this time. I think the worst hit areas with more damage were near Lake Lemon (but that might be in the Brown County section of the lake) and areas in the northwestern part of the county. It definitely was a strange event. Counties to the north, east, and west of Monroe experienced far more serious damage. Some of that is because forks of the White River go through those counties, but not Monroe. We also have our big lake. It continues to do it's job of flood control, but is still very high.

Thanks for the info., rrah. It's so sad what has happened. My heart goes out to everyone affected. We visited Bloomington, and two days after we left, the flood occured. Wow. We loved your town, and it's on the top of our list. I'm going to repost my post after our visit. I had a couple of questions about neighborhoods. If you would be so kind...
