Family activities in Fort Wayne?
Hi Everyone,
I have friends from out of town with kids coming (my kids are 3 and 4 - their kids are 8 and 11), and I want to get some ideas of fun things we can all do together. I know all the toddler spots, but don't want the older kids to get bored. We are on the SW side of Fort Wayne, if that helps. Ideas??
Thanks!

There is a business opening up this Saturday on the SW side of Fort Wayne which might be perfect for you. It's called Plaster Fun Spot and it is opening up in the Shoppes of Scott Road (the plaza on the corner of Scott Rd. and Illinois Rd).
It is a "Paint & Take" plaster painting art studio where families can visit, choose plaster items to paint, then have some glitter and sealer put on them, and then they can go home with them within a few minutes. The nice thing is that there is no waiting for items to be fired as the pieces are plaster not pottery.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo and Science Central aren't on the SW side, but they aren't too far away.

What are the ages of the "older kids", any interests, male/female, how many?
For example, if they are outdoors types, Fox Island is
And then Sat night there is the planetarium there too.
There is also a fairly good biking/walking path: Fort Wayne River Greenway
Of course, there is the Zoo [top 10 in nation] and Science Center (both as mentioned above) and local baseball team Wizards [who are out of town that weekend].

Other ideas:
Fun playgrounds: 3 rivers junction by the SW YMCA, Lawton Park (skateboard park)
Golf: McMillan Park has kids "real" golf course
Cinema Grill- Eat and watch a movie
Roller Dome
Ultra Zone (bigger kids only- but Chuck E Cheese is across street)
Putt Putt golf
Batting Cages (The Dome)
Markle Swim Park
North Side Pool
Tokens & Tickets-video games
Any Buffalo Wild Wings-- my kids love the table quiz and the big screen tv's
See what's at Headwaters park-- something almost every weekend.

Thank you!
Thanks everyone for your great ideas! We ended up going to Plaster Fun Spot this afternoon, per mbuszu's suggestion, and had a blast! I've been to Naked Clay, but this was sooo much better. I hated waiting over a week for Naked Clay to fire my piece (also not very convenient for out of town guests), plus Naked Clay is more expensive. The plaster pieces at Plaster Fun Spot are not fired, so we got to take our pieces with us in just a few minutes. Great fun!
Think we will go to Three Rivers Festival tomorrow, if the weather holds
