As a former Trucker who used to drive from Indy to Laredo Tx twice a week, I am thrilled! It will make the trip more direct and cutting through western kentucky will be so much easier.

This is from wikipedia on I-69:
As of 2007,, SIU 1 (north of Indianapolis) and SIU 2 (which will use I-465 around Indianapolis) are open, as is the short SIU 10 in northwestern Mississippi. SIUs 5 and 6 in Kentucky are built as freeways, but not to Interstate standards. On June 6, 2008, President George W. Bush signed HR-1195, designating these parkways as I-69. The legislation also authorizes Kentucky to immediately sign the parkways as I-69. Kentucky officials plan to place I-69 signs on Breathitt, Western Kentucky, and Purchase Parkways in 2008.[4][5][6][7] Three SIUs in Indiana, Tennessee and Arkansas (3, 9 and 28) are under construction; portions of SIUs 9 and 28 are open to traffic. [8][9] Most of the remaining parts of the mainline are in the environmental impact statement (EIS) stages; the Federal Highway Administration has signed records of decision approving the final EIS for SIUs 7
I guess Dubya can do something right after all! lol

Finally glad to see it happening. I was on one of the survey teams several years ago who did one of the proposed routes. I am curious though to see if it follows the route we did the work on.
That was also the same job that some guy put his rifle against my head and threatened to make it into a canoe. He said that if he killed enough surveyors then maybe they won't build the road

Yes I did. Local police replied that since he did not pull the trigger, he did nothing wrong. When I questioned him about state laws about this, the cop replied that those laws were all 'big city laws' that do not pertain down in that part of Indiana. Needless to say, after that we dealt solely with the state police.
