Has Anyone seen missing Purdue student Wade Steffey? (Bloomington, Wabash: hotel, dorm)

I am sure that many of you already have heard that a Purdue freshman student, Wade Steffey, age 19 has been missing since early Saturday, January 13th, and has not yet been found. He's around 5'10", 150 lbs, brown hair and brown eyes. Please help Wade's parents, family, friends, Purdue, and the entire community find Wade. Thanks.

it's almost unimaginable that Wade just disappeared like that and not a trace of him has been found so far. More search volunteers are needed to search even a wider area away from campus but the weather hasn't been cooperating lately.

IN Hope organization closed its office at Purdue but Purdue elected to keep it going in the continuing search efforts to locate Wade Steffey.

SSShrek---very strange to imagine a young man just vanishing. I was at a gathering tonight with some parents of young people that attend the same HS as Wade did. My daughter is a few years younger than Wade so she didn't know him. A few of these parents have children that do know him. We're all just in shock and are imagining our own being away in a few years. One with a young person at Purdue said the news there is the same as Bloomington--nothing. From all I hear the news reports of him being a great kid are not an exaggeration. I guess this is one of those occasions where the IU community and the Purdue community can come together. Lots of our young people have been up there searching, and I'm sure will continue to do so. I hope the cold eases up so that the searching is easier.

Many here have finally felt some closure with the Jill Behrman case last year. For Wade's parents and friends I hope this doesn't go on as long.

I did read today that the office was staying open.

yes Domergurl, they have also been searching on and along the Wabash River and haven't found Wade. However they did find a man around 30 yrs old who reportedly committed suicide.

They are organizing a large volunnteer search group tomorrow. Some will ride on horseback and some will use ATV's.

another Purdue student is missing, a 33 yr old doctoral student. He went to a friend's wedding down in Mexico on or about Janaury 12th and didn't return yet. There's a report that he was spotted at a hotel down in Mexico.

I read on another forum that a body was found in Wade's dorm today. Has an identification been made? So sad.

That is so sad, it looks like he wandered into some high voltage utility closet and no one thought to look there. It must have been devasting for his parents to go 2 months without knowing anything. They will have a positive id tomorrow sometime.

I thought that every room in Owen Residence Hall was reportedly searched back in January not long after Wade disappeared. Guess they skipped over the utility room in the basement. this whole matter is very bizarre.

Well, since his body has been identified, I'll unstick this now ... how sad for the Steffey family and Purdue University.
