Default So who here is from Evansville?

I grew up in Evansville but I'm now located in Sarasota, Florida.

I was just curious to see how many members of this forum are from my hometown.

I lived in Evv from '82 to '97, went to Harrison HS and USI. Now live in Mesa, AZ. Growing up, it was the most boring, stagnant, stifling place on earth. Now, my opinion has mellowed and I see some of the positive and appealing qualities the area has to offer. Still, I wouldn't ever move back.

True dat. I will always feel something for evansville because it will always be home. I spent the first 20 years of my life there. ITs kind of like your first love. You will never be totally over it because was your first even though it sucks. LOL.

It's often said that people born in Evansville will always stay there, or will come back there to die.

I lived in Evansville until I was 12 years old and attended Tekoppel Elementary. My parents then moved into Marrs Township, just west of the Vanderburgh county line into Posey county. So I ended up attending Mt. Vernon High School, but still consider Evansville my hometown.

I now live near Fort Wayne and I would move back in a heartbeat. People just seem friendlier in Evansville, and are more laid back than here in NE Indiana.

Plus I absolutely hate Eastern Time, both in the standard form and with Daylight Saving Time.

I have been gone for over 18 years now, but still get homesick for southern Indiana.

I grew up in Evansville and lived there until I was 18 when I went away to college at IU in Bloomington. I spent 4 years there and now I live in Columbus, Ohio where I am in grad school. I will graduate in 2009 and I hope to move to Colorado after that. Evansville was on ok place to grow up, but now that I am older I think it is terribly boring. The weather is bad with all the humidity and tornadoes and the Ohio River is dirty. I think they are trying to pick up their image by building up the 'downtown/riverfront' area, but I don't think it will ever be what people hope it to be. My family all still lives there but I definitely don't plan on ever living there again.

I lived in Evansville from age 18-30. I always really liked the place. I did my undergrad and masters at USI. Currently living in the Washington DC suburbs. It is much prettier in northern VA where I live but I still miss Evansville and like to visit often. It always seemed like a safe town and was growing. I think it has a lot of potential. I had to leave because there were just no jobs for me.

Default in e-ville

i know this is an old post but i wanted to chime in. i live in e-ville. not from here originally in fact i'm fairly new. the waterfront is really pretty. not sure if you've been here in a while but they've made a fantastic walk down there. aztar casino which is kind of dreadful has put in a couple of decent bars there is an irish pub and a kind of more upscale bar across the way. also, there is a new arts district so hopefully that will liven things up a bit. still, i understand the stagnant comments but i see good things on the horizon here and i basically like it. people are nice here. much nicer than other parts of the country.
