I went to Ft Wayne Community Schools, and I know plenty of people who went that did well in life. My little brother attended SW Allen? Homestead and he said he felt better prepared for college @ Purdue than many of his peers. He got a 4 yr full ride scholarship and is in Grad School.

I hate to dismiss FWCS system out of hand, but it seems that many people who come to CD are wanting to minimize their risk of a less than great outcome for their families. A good friend of mine is trying to decide which elementary in Ft Wayne to send her child to. Her fav is a 45 min bus ride with a transfer. The others she is unimpressed with.If you decide to change schools after selecting, you have to do a lottery system to get in the school of your choice.
SW Allen Schools are mostly in your neighborhood, attract the best teachers, and are clean and new with updated equipment, computers etc. I hate to sound elitist and negative on FWCS, which I am sure produce many fine results, but SW and NW Allen systems are probably at a lower risk for disappointing new residents. I would want people to let me in on all of these facts if I were contemplating a move to another area.
I was moved several times as a child and encountered some scary schools and rough kids, it was not good. If you grow up in a neighborhood and have buddies, it can shield you. New kids do well in Sw Allen because there are plenty of other new kids and bully behavior is not tolerated. My kids have never been bullied , and my daughter got in big trouble for chasing boys on the playground with her friend!

Sometimes the safe choice is the way to go. Oh, and my SW Allen elementary school pipes Disney music in the hallways. How great is that?

Default resource

Thanks for all the helpful advice... I think we have narrowed the area down to NWASD and SWASD. The one thing I do wonder is, my child is currently in resource. With moving to a new state and school will they automatically put her into resource and intervention help or will we get the run around???
Anyhow we find out in a week if we are relocating!!! I am so excited!!!

Default Homestead High School - What can you tell me about the student body?

My family will be moving to Fort Wayne and we are looking into the Homestead High School area? I have heard that the student body is difficult in accepting new students? Does anyone have any life exerience from this high school within the last couple of years?
