Default Bloomington hospitals

I would like input on Bloomington hospitals-- the old one vs. the new (Monroe). Can't understand how the new one can make it...
Why was another hospital built? Hope to hear from workers? patients?

The "why" of Monroe Hospital--too long to even begin, but the short story is a few local Dr.s were not satisfied with Bloomington Hospital. I don't recall the reason for the dissatisfaction, but they wanted to start something newer and better. I do seem to recall one of the Drs was/is a pain specialist and anesetholigist and didn't like the limits of Bloomington Hospital. His "story" is too complicated also to go into, but he is no longer associated with Monroe Hospital.

Monroe has gone thru several CEO's already and has been sold by the original founders to another group.

I'm not sure if they are "making" it. Within a year of opening they stopped delivering babies there (not enough business). My understanding is that certain heart patients can only be stabilized there, and then are sent off to Bloomington Hospital. Very limited services. The people that do go there do seem to like it a lot and have high praise for it.

The local 911 ambulance service doesn't take patients to Monroe. It was announced in the past few weeks that Monroe will begin ambulance service, but I don't think it will be connected to the 911 service.
