Proof reading the post would be good.
I was referring to the campground at Pokagon as being nicer.
Mc Cormick Creek - somehow this is the park I visit most often. Spring, summer, fall, winter it's a nice place.
Spring Mill - I have enjoyed the structures around the mill as well as the trails through the old growth Donaldson's woods.

Uplander, I just gave you a rep. Why?
http://www.city-data.com/forum/india...g-weekend.html
It really did not meet any of my criteria, but thanks to this thread, my wife and I now have a room reserved at the Turkey Run lodge
Thank you

Reviving an old thread.
This last weekend (weekend before Christmas) my wife and I stayed at the lodge in Turkey Run. Simply put, we had a blast. The trails at Turkey Run were unbelievable. We had no clue of this hidden gem in the state. For those that have never been to Turkey Run and gone on the trails, trust me when I say that you are really missing out on the natural beauty of Indiana. To be honest, being from the northern part on Indiana I had no clue that areas such as this existed.

FANTASTIC thread, Uplander... forget Indiana Beach - thank you for helping prove there IS more than corn in Indiana!
My list would include (in no particular order):
* Indiana Dunes State Park
* Pokagon State Park
* Brown County State Park
* White River State Park (White River State Park)
* Turkey Run State Park
* Falls of the Ohio State Park

I see many of my favorites already listed (Brown county, Turkey Run/Shades, Clifty Falls.....) but no one has mentioned Versailles!
We go to Versailles when the leaf-peepers in Brown County get to be too much.
Nice hilly topography, killer lake/stream views, good hiking and probably the second-best mountain biking in the state. Oh, and NO CROWDS. It's a great place if you truly want to get away from it all.
