Thumbs up Walkerton- A great town

We were invited to a horse sale in the spring time back in 1990 irrc.
1. Arrive in town and unload horse at sale barn north of town.
2. Get motel.
3. Go to burger joint resembling a Sonic drive-in.
4. We notice a young couple in car directly across from us and they are arguing and keep looking our way. Young couple leave.
5. We leave and cricle block and that has us pass the police station.
6. Young man in black car that was arguing has changed clothes and cars. He is now driving a police car.
7. Young policeman pulls us over and is very mad. Officer states " I have been looking for you"! "Give me your registration!"
8. Young policeman wads up registration and stuffs it into his pocket. Policeman states that"you are going to have to go home to Mo and get more registration papers"
9. Truck is siezed and towed in.
10. I use the telphone at the sale barn in attempt to get something done. Many residents over hear my conversations.
11. We meet and shake the hands of 300-400 local residents. The residents are very unhappy with the young police officers present and past conduct. Residents are very apologetic.
12. I meet with a city council member and he says that the young police officer rousted us because he thought that our driver in his new grey 1 ton Ford is having an affair with his wife. Councilman is very unhappy with the situation and says "you are going to go home to Mo and tell everyone about this and it will make our town out to be a bad place."
13. Thing get negociated out and we only have to pay the tow bill of $35.00.
14. City councilman says they are in the process of getting the officer fired for something in the past; before we ever arrived in town.
15. We leave Walkerton by gravel roads and avoid town.

All in all i think we were treated the very best anyone could have been treated by the towns people. The cop was a bummer though! lol

We never said a bad thing about that town at all. We did tell the story to many friends etc.

Nowdays how are things in Walkerton?
