Hubby is on his way to Columbus to go to work .. plaidmom, keep a lookout ok?
Will do.
Main roads are plowed, as are the north/south residential streets.

I'm going to try to get some pics in the park as well. The trees are just...amazing.

We lost a few tree limbs last night, but power stayed on.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

Down here in Bloomington/Monroe County schools are out again. The accumulation varies tremendously from the northern to southern parts of the county. I'm in the southern county area. We had rain and a bit of sleet yesterday until about 2-3. Turned to ice pellets, then snow. Probably about 1 inch of ice covered by a few inches of snow. Lots of people without power here though still. IU delayed classes until noon. (a true rarity!)

Domergurl--I too would pull the old Chicago snowblower out, except I'm sure we don't have oil or gas for it. Haven't used it in 5 years. Husband's tractor is sitting out waiting to be used, but I don't really know how to use the snow plow part. Guess the 4 wheel drive will just have to get me out of the driveway.

Husband wisely decided to leave for a business trip to Chicago on Monday instead of waiting until today. He was feeling pretty smug last night. (Those people flying in from various countries better make it in!)

Back to the original question. I did go to the grocery on Monday evening, but it's part of my usual routine. I did buy supplies for veggie soup since I figured I have time to make it on Tuesday. I think that was the extent of my stocking up. I didn't notice so many people buying milk and bread--just lots of alcohol! (Guess we know how to stay warm down here.)

Hope all of you stay safe and warm.

Took my daughter to the doctor this morning ... she has the bad flu ... ugh!!!

Anyway, driving was a trip! Reminded me of driving in suburban Chicago. It is amazing to me how people have no clue how to properly make turns on freshly plowed streets and how people think they can just pull out in front of you.

It sure is pretty now. Funny how the day after really bad weather always seems to be beautiful.

Nothing is more beautiful than 2+ hours of digging your car out of a snowdrift...

there's nothing quite like upstate New York snowfall coming to North Central Indiana....47 inch high snow drifts. Tippecanoe School Corp cancelled school for the remainder of this week.

Well this stupid naturalized-Hoosier spent the afternoon xc skiiiing! Icy good fun. Here are some shots from the park near my house:

The small pics don't really do the ice justice. When the sun was setting, all of the trees looked like they had little white Christmas lights strung in their branches. It was...magical.

Sorry to gush. Please remember I didn't grow up with this stuff! I still think snow is a very good invention.

I bought my skis ~ 5 years ago. I've been able to use them at least a few times per year every year except one; so I think they were a good buy. I was worried about this year being a wash, but in the last week or so the snow has been awesome.

Remember the snow in 2004 (I think it was 2004?) where the southern half of the state got 24" in just a few hours? Well we didn't get plowed for 3-4 days, so I was able to ski allll over town. That was great.

I looove XC. I'm not very good at it, but it's an excellent workout. Funny, because my grandfather, who grew up in MN, used to tell us stories about skiing to school. If he could see me now.

Do you know if you have any groomed trails up in Lafayette?
(My SO went to Purdue, but he didn't have skis when he lived there)
