For the past eight years I have lived in the Peru area, but before living in Peru,Indiana, as a child my family would visit Peru from Schererville,In. Back in the early 90's every time my father had to do something at Grissom AFB, when it was active. Now back in 1997 my family moved out of Indiana and to another state, but again when my father decided to move up with his job, he got a job at Grissom ARB. In 2000 when we moved into the area, I was 18 and found that the town I onced loved to visit was just a former shell of itself. Its something I can't stand to see.
Sure there have been minor improvments over the past few years, but not alot of major improvments to the over all shopping, and are job lose.
Being 25 and now having a family of my own, I'd like for my kids to grow up in an area were they can be proud to call there home. A place were there are jobs, shopping and an over all good feeling about the town. And I'd like that for every family wanting to move to Peru.
But for some reason when jobs try to come to Peru, they are pushed away. Same goes for Shopping, or anything else that trys to improve the town. And this has to be stoped!!
There has to be something other than cheap homes, in this town in order to get people to move to Peru.
So in late 2007 one of my good friends and I decided to take the town of Peru on, the town itself a project. We want people to get involved with the town, and be proud of Peru again! To let the people who run Peru, that we as a town want to see improment in are jobs, shopping, and over all look of downtown.
SavePeru was created in 2007, and with over 1,500 friends on are myspace site and growing.

Project Save Peru - Home from Iraq as well. But my partner back in Indiana has been keeping up on things, with creating new videos and keeping the information flowing. But I'll be back in my home town real soon. Which I miss alot! Peru holds a place in my heart and always will.
Its my goal to become a member of the City Councel, then sometime in the future Mayor.
But since I'm in Iraq this year for elections, I was not able to run for City Councel.
