Default Save Peru!

For the past eight years I have lived in the Peru area, but before living in Peru,Indiana, as a child my family would visit Peru from Schererville,In. Back in the early 90's every time my father had to do something at Grissom AFB, when it was active. Now back in 1997 my family moved out of Indiana and to another state, but again when my father decided to move up with his job, he got a job at Grissom ARB. In 2000 when we moved into the area, I was 18 and found that the town I onced loved to visit was just a former shell of itself. Its something I can't stand to see.

Sure there have been minor improvments over the past few years, but not alot of major improvments to the over all shopping, and are job lose.

Being 25 and now having a family of my own, I'd like for my kids to grow up in an area were they can be proud to call there home. A place were there are jobs, shopping and an over all good feeling about the town. And I'd like that for every family wanting to move to Peru.

But for some reason when jobs try to come to Peru, they are pushed away. Same goes for Shopping, or anything else that trys to improve the town. And this has to be stoped!!

There has to be something other than cheap homes, in this town in order to get people to move to Peru.

So in late 2007 one of my good friends and I decided to take the town of Peru on, the town itself a project. We want people to get involved with the town, and be proud of Peru again! To let the people who run Peru, that we as a town want to see improment in are jobs, shopping, and over all look of downtown.

SavePeru was created in 2007, and with over 1,500 friends on are myspace site and growing. MySpace.com - save peru - 99 - Male - PERU, Indiana - www.myspace.com/saveperu and are new site Project Save Peru - Home which is still under alot of work at the moment.

SavePeru is holding is first ever Charity Event Dec 13th, with local Metal bands and acts. All donations will go to The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peru.

For the past 10 months its been a challange for SavePeru. Since I have been in Iraq, and been putting this Charity Concert together and working on Project Save Peru - Home from Iraq as well. But my partner back in Indiana has been keeping up on things, with creating new videos and keeping the information flowing. But I'll be back in my home town real soon. Which I miss alot! Peru holds a place in my heart and always will.

Its my goal to become a member of the City Councel, then sometime in the future Mayor.

But since I'm in Iraq this year for elections, I was not able to run for City Councel.

BetterFutureForPeru thank you for serving our country! God bless ya and hope you get home safe and sound soon.

Better hurry Glazier furniture closed up today after being in business for what 70+ years there in Peru? Sadly Peru is one of many small towns in Indiana being hit hard after losing so much of our manufacturing bases state wide. Good luck on saving your town hope that goes well for you.

BetterFutureForPeru,
You are really making my cry. I can't make that concert in December because I have to be in class at Ivytech in Franklin. Could you video tape that concert for me? I would really appreciate it. Hey there is an idea to Save Peru. I would like to see things happen in my home town. I hate driving up and down U.S. 31 to get from one spot to another. That is how it is in Franklin. Here is my e-maill address. elizabethemery2004@yahoo.com And no Porno please.

Default Dec. 13th?

Hello, I just read the post about SavePeru participating in an event in which the proceeds would be donated to Big Brothers & Sisters in Peru.

I run MainStreetandBroadway.com and would like more information, if possible. I would like to post this event for our readers as it would be an event that would benefit a local organization, and a worthy one at that.

Please go to the blog and you may contact me directly from there, if you are interested.

Thanks!

My husband worked for Glazier. For a long time. He just left a month ago for a job offer due to the closing. We were under the impression they weren't closing until Dec. 31st. My husband is currently in bed or I would ask him. I believe you to be incorrect as we still have many friends there and would have known they had closed already. So I think you still have time. And you should be getting some great deals. I will post back after I talk to my husband if I am incorrect but I do not believe I am.

The Charity Concert De 13th went very well. Being it are first Charity Event we raised over $350. Sense than we have held another charity event on Feb 28th 2009 in which SavePeru raised arond $500 that went to the Child Abuse Prevention program of Peru/Miami County.

So on May 30th,2009 we are holding another charity event at the Hangar 18 in Peru,In. All proceeds will go towards the Child Abuse Prevention Program of Peru/Miami County once again.

SavePeru is growing, and helping Peru one step at a time!

Greg
