Default What is the best area to live in within 60 miles of Terre Haute IN?

I am desperate to move to Indiana and start my life over. I was planning on Terre Haute IN but have not read anythign good about the place. I am a late 20's gal with three small children, am newly single, and moving from Montana. What is the best place to raise a family, with cheap housing, with good daycares, and jobs within a reasionable distance to Terre Haute? Any advice is helpful please.

You might want the mod to move this. Terre Haute is not even close to NW Indiana.

Housing throughout much of Indiana is relatively inexpensive--especially within 60 miles of Terre Haute.

TH is hardly crime-infested; in all but the worst parts of town I would feel safe walking the streets at night alone. The area immediately surrounding TH is no better than TH itself. The hundreds of meth busts they did 3 to 4 years ago really turned things around, and even before then, crime was not incredibly common.
