Nashville Indiana moving advice
We're looking at a house near Nashville Indiana/Bean Blossom on State Road 135. Any advice on that road-- how busy does it get, how backed up during the fall, is there a rush hour problem, etc.? Does the Bill Monroe Music festival back things up? Is that a mild crowd or a wild crowd? Basically-- any concerns I should know about that road before making the commitment? We have two kids and two dogs to look out for. Thanks for the help!

Are schools a concern? Their schools aren't very highly regarded. You may as well move up a little on 135 and get into the Center Grover school district.

last time I was in Nashville I drove out to the old covered bridge just to the north of town. Had to take a narrow gravel road to get down to it and it appeared to be an authentic bridge in very good shape. On my way out I drove past one small abandoned home with moss and slime all over it. It looked like the Beverly Hillbillies had lived there before they packed up and went to Hollywood.
Nashville is a fun place to visit but I don't think I could live there sitting on a front porch strumming on my guitar and singing 'Rock of Ages.'

Traffic can be pretty bad along SR46 and 135 during "leaf peeper" season.
You'll have many many Harley riders crusing by on the weekends, Spring through Fall. That area is really poplular with the "Fat Boy" crowd.
If you plan to live right on 135, I'd make sure the house is set waaaay back from the road.

I have a friend in Nashville and she uses 46 to "get out of town" and come to Indy. 135 can be dangerous because it is seriously curvy and two laned. Make sure you have a good line of sight getting in and out of the driveway or a good street with line of sight. There have been a number of serious accidents on this road.
A lot of the houses closer to Nashville are on the top of "mountains" with drop offs and in the past have had water concerns.
The tax situation in Brown County must be investigated before buying. I dont know if they have their two year old reassessments in yet but beware and check it out. My friend did not have their house taxes set for two years and were just paying what they previously owed.
Consider the distance to anywhere if you have kids. If your land is steep, will there be anywhere to play?
Best i can do with the info given. It is a pretty area. My friend homeschools so I have no info on schools. If you need something specific about Nashville itself, post a message.

Thanks!
Thanks for the perspective... love that house on 135 but we'll keep looking. We're not moving to the country to be on a busy road!

Interesting to see such negative comments about my town. I have lived here 23 years. This place is beautiful and as far as the schools go, someone needs to do their research as we have oustanding academics and state ratings. If you are considering moving, contact the Brown County Chamber of Commerce 812-988-6647.

Having lived in Brown County all my life I think this is a humorous posting as well. I agree with the author who said it was beautiful etc. I'd also point out that the world's leading expert on nuclear energy comes from Brown County, a designer of the Hubble telescope, numerous members of the IU school of music ranked top 5 in the nation live here as well. This discussion is a bit like looking at one address on Wall Street or one address in the Bronx and saying it represents NYC. You'd need a lot more information about BC before you'd understand it.....to be fair.

Hello Goodbye Cincy,
If you are looking for something a little more nature Bellsville Pike is not too far from Nashville (135 area). There is a nice home with acreage for sale there.
Good luck ...Brown County is beautiful. The little shops in Nashville is a nice get away from the norm.
