I figured it would be worth a shot to ask anyone on here what they think of some places in Bloomington. I am currently looking for a place to live next year starting in August of 2009. I have been rental house hunting and it seems most of the houses have been trashed by college students. I am looking for a two bedroom that allows one small dog. I am considering The Boulders and Steeplechase for apartment/townhome living. Can anyone give me advice on either of these places? Or can anyone give me suggestions about where would be a nice place to live in Bloomington? I want something nice that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, you would think I could find something for under $900 a month for a two bedroom! Help!

I would recommend Steeplechase over the Boulders. A family member lived in the Boulders. The management was less than timely when returning the security deposit and also charged this person for some things that seemed ridiculous (ie small nail holes from pictures). Both are on buslines.

I live in Oakdale Square apartments, and I think very highly of them. We pay $645 for a two bedroom 1.5 bath townhouse. They allow cats and smallish dogs. The place is old... not sure when it was built, but some of the units don't have washer/dryer hookups or dishwashers, and our furnace is really loud. But it's a great neighborhood and a great price. It's on west 2nd St.

you should really look at sassafrass hill on the south side..i pay $655/mo for a 2bdroom/1 1/2bath..it's 1100sq ft townhome..mostly grad students and small families here. Not all apartments are upgraded but they are gorgeous..mine is upgraded and in the $655 is a small monthly fee for my dog. We have a bark park for your pup to run around without a leash...i really suggest you check it out!
