Red face Where oh where to move to

I am looking for a little imput from the locals. I move to Fort Wayne from Wy almost 6 years ago. I have always loved it here. Still do. But my husband is looking into taking a job in Indy. So we would be moving. I don't want to live right in Indy. We were looking at Greenfield maybe. Does anyway have any suggestions? Is there a better side of Indy to live on? I have 4 daughters so schools and low crime are VERY important to me. PLEASE I would love some suggestions.

Depends on what you want to spend. Greenfield is nice and it's a quick commute into Indianpaolis (but they are tearing up 70 into the city, so it will be a pain for a little while). As far as Indianpolis proper, I'd look at Lawrence Twp. or Washington Twp. The schools are good in those areas. But as for suburban. If you like Greenfield, you'll also like the Mt. Vernon school system (Fortville, Mt. Comfor & McCordsville). Their schools are a little better than the Greefield Central schools.

I live in Fishers and like it just fine.

Carmel, Zionsville & Noblesville are all very nice and have good schools too.

My suggestion - don't move. I'm probably reading too much into the few sentences you wrote... but I believe I've seen this story play out in my family and with several friends and aquaintances. The one where the grass is greener on the other side to the guy - potentially more money or "career-growth" in another town. Having grown up all over the country as a result of this I can say with some confidence you may want to really evaluate whether to just stay in Fort Wayne and if you feel strongly about it to consider pressing your opinion. Your kids have been here for 6 years, they likely have formed some friendships and a sense of connection already. It definitely sounds from your phrasing that you have as well. I'd really look for something compelling to make me move from Fort Wayne. It has everything except perhaps "perfect" weather; and unless there's a reason to move like loss of a job and/or massive income increase by moving to Indy... I'd think twice. LOL - I know this might not be advice you were looking for - but hey, it's free, and I'm just speaking from experience. I wish I hadn't moved so much when I was young... the end result ~30 years later is just a lot of very short friendships I established all over the country (most of which ended) and yes, an awareness of what it is like all over.
