Good luck on your move.

I have family in AZ that will visit here for months at a time. She lives in Tucson.

For her, our summers are killer. The humitity is something that she has trouble with. I understand in AZ, 25% humitity is extremely high? Here we usually see 90%, with it reaching 100%

But that being said, she tried one winter with us and will now never come back during winter. Since she spent 2 years up in Flagstaff she thought that she could handle our winters...

Hate to paint a bleak picture, but that is my aunt's experience.

Default from Fishers, in

Hi,

i just found this website trying to get some info. on a smaller area in Indiana. My husband and I and our two daughters moved to Fishers, IN almost two years ago from the Chicago suburbs. WE LOVE IT HERE. The people are very friendly, the home prices are wonderful and the schools are good. I would move again in a heartbeat here.

You can find a really nice home in your range. Check out Moorse Lake or the Geist area. My neighbors mom is a realtor and just sold my parents their retirement home here. I know she lives on the water in a beautiful home. She is great to work with. I can send you her name if you need it.

Good luck! I've been in your shoes. We've moved 12 times.

hey doozie ... we moved to Fishers from the chicago area too! I completely agree with your assessment. Although we are putting our house on the market, we kind of hope we don't have to move!

Default Columbus, Indiana

Hi, have you looked into Columbus, Indiana? We are preparing to move there soon, from out of state. It is a small town, about 40,000. It was ranked by Morgan Quitno as the 11th safest metro area out of 320 metro areas across the country (morganquitno.com/cit05pop.htm). I believe it is about 45 minutes from the airport. It is also right next to Brown County, which is known for it's beautiful fall scenery, shopping in Nashville (Indiana) and Brown County State park, for your camping and hiking needs. Columbus has most of the shopping you would probably need (Target, Lowes, Kohls, Old Navy, a mall, etc.). You will need to check into the schools. A few (mostly the "inner city") elementary schools seem to be lagging behind the others. Check out greatschools.net for information about the schools. Also, Columbus has a very nice planned community called Tipton Lakes. You can google it, they have a website. It has beautiful lakes, sidewalks throughout, tennis courts etc. However, you wil pay more to live there so check out the association fees. There are other neighborhoods that have lake access as well. My husband and I were quite surprised by the number of lakes in Columbus! If it is not necessary for you to be in a direct suburb of Indy, Columbus may be worth looking into. Just another option...

We do love it here, but the commute to Columbus is a killer!!! Especially when we had those blizzards and fog in February. Seriously, we don't want to move, but I'm tired of hubby not getting home until 8 or 9 at night. He hardly sees our kids during the week.

I'm moving from Missouri to Indiana in a very small farming town call "chilli". The reason for my moving is because I'm getting married to a Redneck Farmer. I have found out by visiting for six years ,alot of people in Peru are very different. Not just in Peru but also in some other small towns around Peru. The schools aren't the greatest. It's just a nasty town and I mean nasty. If I was you I would do some research if you are planning to move there. The weather in Peru is crazy. One minute the sun will be out and be in the 50's your turn around the next day it's snowing lol. If you have teenagers there is NOTHING for them to do. Now I love the country life for me, that's the good life!!! In the country around Peru there is some very pretty land.
Missouri I love the weather there and people ,everything about it. There is lots you can do in Missouri and it's for all ages. The countryside is AWESOME there!! But, I really don't care for St. Louis there's alot of dirty, nasty parts there. I'm sure, if you do some research and follow your heart you will make the right choice.

I'm a bit ignorant with respect to the economy/job situation in other portions of Indiana.
I'm in NW Indiana and the majority of our white collar jobs are in Chicago, and the blue collar jobs are either at Ford (Hegewisch Il.) or the steel mills (Gary).

Where are folks working down state? I understand Indy with it's downtown and what not, but what about the other towns?
What jobs are available to those? What's typical for the rural mid-size Indiana town?
