Hanover/Madison area information
I am up for a job relocation to Hanover from the Boston area on June first. I have been searching for rentals (apartments or houses) with 3 bedrooms in that area and none of the rental search sites have anything! The only real info about the area is the Madison website and the Madison Courier website. Can anyone tell me about the area? Housing, what it's like, anything other than the stats I have found.
Thanks so much!

It's a tourist area of the state. And Hanover is a college town. Why are you moving there? It's a gorgeous area and you may just have to contact a realtor to get what you need.

Thanks for the reply!
I would be transferring to Hanover with my company. I have spent a lot of time in the Evansville area, but have never been up in the Madison area. I am really hoping this come through- it would be a big and welcome change from the Boston area!

It will be a big shock! Reverse sticker shock mainly. There's a gorgeous regatta every year in Madison. If you want that lazy river town experience, you'll get it in Hanover/Madison!

I don't live in Madison, but have visited it a couple of times. It is beautiful down there. I would move there in a heartbeat. Evansville can't hold a candle to the Madison/Hanover area. (And I am a native of Evansville).
Good luck!

The cost of living is a definite bonus! My parents actually drove up today to check out the area for us. I just hope they aren't getting ahead of themselves. :-s

Lucky you! I live about an hour north. It's a charming small town.
Here are some photos I snapped at the last bike race (just ignore the guys in lycra )
Downtown:
Nice Federal style brick homes (I saw for-sale signs, but no rentals, sorry!):
and finally, a view of the Ohio River:

Plaidmom- I got a "package" from my parents with visitor's guides to Madison- Your top pic is even better than the one in the visitor's guide of the same spot. :-)

Just bumping
this up for more opinions and to add another question. My other half will be job hunting- what is the unemployment rate like out that way?
