Default Where to live around Fort Wayne?

I recently accepted a job that is located on the south-east side of FW - off Meyer Road. After visiting the area for a second time this past weekend (1st time was for a looooooong interview, and I didn't have time to really see the area), I'm really lost on where to live.

Though I could purchase a home, I'd prefer to rent for at least 6 months to ensure that the job actually works out. However, after visiting numerous apartment complexes this past weekend, I'm not quite sure I actually want to live IN Fort Wayne. Does anyone know of any decent condo's/apartments, or even homes, that are for rent around Fort Wayne (idealy around 600/month)?

Basically, I'm a "country" person that likes to hunt and do things out-doors. I have a few motorcycles, and like to tinker with things in the garage.....and I really don't think this type of lifestyle is possible while living in a major apartment complex, which is why I'd almost prefer renting a condo/house with an attached garage for a few months to a year. It will be myself and my GF, so a 1 bedroom gig isn't a problem. I've checked craigslist and a few other sites, but haven't found anything....does anyone know of any decent locations in some of the surrounding towns??

You might consider checking out areas like Osian and Decatur. They are about 15 to 20 miles away, but being smaller towns, you might find something to your liking at a lower price than in Ft. Wayne.

Ummm if you are going to be working on Meyer Road, don't listen to the first post on here. If you lived in Decatur or Osian it would be more like a 45-50 minute ride each way. You should look at apartments in New Haven which would be close by to your work site. I suggest you go to FortWayne.com or try renters.com and see what you can find. I suggest a place called Regency Apartments. They are the nearest apartments to your road. I hope you like it here. It's a livable city.
