Check with the county auditor or treasurer's office. I believe one of those two set the tax rates.

Here you go...
(search for county officials/contact information) Indiana Department of Local Government Finance
(interesting prop. tax document) http://www.in.gov/dlgf/pdfs/proptax/Scott.pdf (broken link)
(tax rates, reports, data for Indiana) Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (broken link)
I hope that helps you out. at the IN.gov: Home site you ought to find everything you need. If you have difficulty navigating it then I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the phone and call someone... I've had good luck myself and have always been pointed in the right direction

First of all, good luck in your move. I wish you the best.
The next question is, where are you moving from? What are the most important things you look for in a city/state? Does weather effect you? Do you have a family?
I would definatly not move here simply because of the low land tax. Indiana is in the process of lowering land tax even more, that's great for the homeowners, but I rent (by choice) so the tax they dont have to pay is going to be passed on to me. I think that gives me the right to hang out on their property when I want since I am helping them pay for it. Yes, I have alot of haste towards the new tax propositions. I will not comment any further on that since I will be out of this state March 1st. For good!
As far as racial problems, I honestly don't know. I have seen racism here and I have seen people get "let go" from jobs and I think it was race related. I am white so I don't know the feeling. I would say Indiana is in the middle. Not as racist as some areas of the south, but not as liberated as states like California or Arizona.
