Need as much info as possible! Family of 4 moving for work in Columbus and looking at different areas south of the city.

Greenwood has been a recommendation, as has Franklin, but wanted some local insight

> Schools: have a 10 year old and 7 year old. Looking for strong academics and a variety of extracurricular activities (not just sports). Would like honest feedback from parents on the environment, school communication, etc. (we are leaving a school that is great academically but can be a bit 'stepford-ish' and not looking to get back in the same vibe)

> Area: Would prefer an area that is very 'community' oriented with access to parks, kids activities and shopping/restaurants, pedestrian areas , bike paths.

> Neighborhoods: Kids, kids, kids...... and neighbors that actually interact with each other.

> Safety: Obvious

> Commute: Want to be within a 1 hour commute of Columbus, but closer to the city.

So those are the basics. Any insight would be great. Have a feeling this will be a tough move on the kids and want to make the best decision possible.

Why not look in Columbus?

Also, if you want feedback regarding parts of metro Indy, post in the Indy forum.

How does Columbus compare to the areas mentioned?
Really have little info, just some basic info from people who work in the area.
Thanks

Columbus would be just as good if not better than Greenwood or Franklin, especially if you are already working there. It would meet all the needs you mentioned based on the little experience I have with the city. You'd be further from downtown Indy but still less than hour. And just a bit over an hour from Louisville in the other direction. Downtown Columbus is very nice.
