New waterpark in French Lick
 Hi,
Just thought I would post a warning about staying at the new waterpark in French Lick. I was there last weekend and they had an arrest for drugs by someone who was staying there. My friend also had her purse stolen from the waterpark area. I thought it was just her purse that was stolen but we talked to another guest who's sister had hers taken also during the same weekend.
The staff seemed very scetchy and hard to understand, they also didn't seem to be trained very well. I can understand because it's new but I was charged the same regardless of all the hassles we endured.
If I were everyone I would just go to Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio.

I think I'm going to stick with going to the casino in French Lick, it's a classy place to stay and I've never had a problem there. We just thought we would give the water park a try, never again. I was also amazed that a water park doesn't even have a swimming pool. I know not every water park is the same but it would have been nice to have a regular swimming pool to relax in while the kids were on the slides with the husbands. I'm wondering if they were really ready to open? I've been reading that it was going to open in September but then it kept getting pushed back, it makes me think the owners didn't really know what was going on. When my friend had her purse stolen we asked if they could look on the security cameras and they said they don't have any in the water park. As I said I know the Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio is a great place to stay and Holiday World will be open in May so that's were we will be going.

Thanks for telling me. We are planning on passing through French Lick on our way to Holiday World/Owensboro,KY this summer. We might stop in French Lick on our way back home. I'll make sure to keep tight hold of my possessions if we do stop at the waterpark in French Lick.

I agree with Domergurl.
Take action and bug the heck out of the town counsel and the management of the Waterpark. Find out who owns the Waterpark and bug the hek out of them. Write a letter to the local Newspaper. If they have an opinion's column, have them print your letter there.
I'm just so tired of something positive going into a community and some jerks have to ruin it.
If there is park security DO YOUR JOB!!!!!!

Wow. Thanks for this heads-up. We were planning to spend a day checking the new waterpark out at the end of this summer while we're in the area for a state history lesson.

What part of this area are you going to be in while here for the state history lesson? There is a fabuous water park in Santa Claus. It's part of Holiday World. There are so many interesting places to see in the area as far as history goes.

We heart holiday world. We usually get annual passes, but my husband is starting a 6-8 week forced layoff at his plant next weekend so it's not in the cards this year.
The lesson I'm working up is mostly on French Lick. Some of the areas I plan to cover include the healing qualities of natural springs, clay and that type of thing; the story of how this tiny dot on a state road map once hosted some of the top names in politics, fashion and hollywood; the restoration of the grounds and buildings of the hotel itself; as well as a bit on the history of the architecture of the buildings in and around the area. Which will segue nicely into our stay in Jasper with it's German heritage and classic architecture.

You might want to stop in Ferdinand at the convent. It's the Castle on the Hill. They have a great histoy room. It's truly amazing. I looked up their web site, www.thedome.org. You don't have to be religious to visit. The Castle structure is amazing.
