Default Info about Seymour

Have been reading several forums, and it seems as if the consensus is that Seymour falls somewhere in the middle, not a great city in Southern Indiana, but not the worst either.

I was wondering what characteristics about Seymour made it less desirable, specifically concerning the schools and hospital.

I was born in Seymour and grew up there. It always seemed like a pretty decent place to me. I haven't lived there for several years, so maybe things have changed. I know the hospital has expanded, so it's a lot bigger than it used to be, but it would probably still be considered a small rural hospital. As for education, I went to a parochial school for 8 years, then HS. I think I got a decent education.

I was born in Seymour as well. Honestly, I had to get out of there ASAP. I found the small town-ness suffocating. However, this is just my personal opinion.

Seymour really isn't a bad place at all. The town has a fairly solid economic base (for now) and good schools. As far as the hospital is concerned, I wouldn't consider it a small rural hospital anymore. How many small rural hospitals have an entire building for oncology treatment? When I think small rural hospitals I think of Scottsburg or Salem, not so much Seymour.
