Default South Bend in top 10 places to retire???

I just read an article that states South Bend is in the top ten spots that you might want to consider to move and retire in due to low cost of living and low median housing costs.

From what many of my old friends say about the city and the articles I read at the local news sites most people want out. Tell me what you think.

The articles focus was about housing affordability and the South Bend area is certainly affordable. If you are retired and dont have to do much or maybe just find a job greeting folks at the local Wal Mart part time, its great. On the other hand job seekers are having a hard time of it. I just sold a house yesterday 3 bed 1 bath 1 car garage in a decent neighborhood for $34,000 (it was a repo). It needs a bit of minor repair, but no more than $3,000, if that much.

Property taxes in St. Joe county will make one gag, however.
