If Indiana laws are anything like Oklahoma's, selling fish caught from state waters could get you arrested, your boat and truck confiscated, etc.
Here in OK we have so many lakes and rivers (hard to believe, but we are not really a dust bowl at all anymore) that the temptation to sell our catch gets people in trouble pretty often. The Asian grocery stores in OKC or Tulsa are always willing to buy fresh fish.

BTW- farm-raised catfish is inferior in texture and taste to the wild-caught catfish.

I wonder if the Wabash is actually polluted, most rivers and creeks in the US are now fairly clean, the turbid muddiness is more or less natural and not pollution. Extra silt, and elevated phosphorous etc is caused by farming, and that is a bit of a problem.
On the other hand, there is this AP report about drug companies polluting: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/AP-IMPACT-Tons-of-released-apf-14965990.html (broken link)

Driving back and forth through Indiana on I70 this week, I liked what I saw. I don't know if there is such a thing as an "Indiana vacation", or if my family would go along with an idea like that, but I would like to spend more time there sometime.

I don't know if a trout line is the best way to try to catch Sturgeon or just a plain old rod and reel.

you have to spend a 125 dollars on a commerical fishing permit in order to sell fish here in Indiana, and there are only a few hundred miles of the wabash, white, and, ohio rivers you can commerical fish on also.

Do they make you go through any class or classes before getting a commercial fishing permit?

You mean I can just fill out a form, pay a fee and operate a Bubba Gump shrimp boat on the Wabash?

Yes that is about the short and long of it. The true trick is finding people or a market to buy your catch. I mean after all you can use hoopnets and cagetraps after all
