Question Commutation between lafayette and W LAfayette

Hi,

My hubby works in Indianapolis and me in west lafayette. We have decided to move to Lafayette which would be midway between the two places.

How long ooes it take to travel from Lafayette to W lafayette???

How frequent is the bus service and how friendly in the environment?

Can somebody give me some info.

Lafayette is midway from West Lafayette and Indianapolis? West Lafayette and Lafayette are like twin cities; you wouldn't know you were in a different city once you crossed the Wabash if you were unfamiliar with the two cities. Depending on what part of Lafayette you are talking about, it takes between 2 and 20 minutes to get to West Lafayette.

The towns are as friendly as anywhere else.

The bus service in Lafayette/West Lafayette is CityBus:

CityBus of Greater Lafayette, Indiana

From the far east side of Lafayette to West Lafayette normally takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic.

It takes much longer than that. I went up to camp up there a few years ago we went for an outing 2 miles east of I-65 and was heading back to camp in the far western end of Lafayette and it took atleast half an hour.

During the heaviest traffic, going along 26 from I-65 into town is a mess. It is unplanned sprawl at its worst (until you west of, say, 52). That is why pinpointing the where in Lafayette is important. Any other route from most other points of Lafayette are a breeze. My lady friend's sister used to live off 9th and Twychenham in southern Lafayette and it took 10 minutes tops to get to West Lafayette.

I agree it is unplanned sprawling at its worst. We took 26 to Creasy Av went north to Greenbush and went over that way and crossed the river and went south on US 231 and then we turned down some other roads. I can remember it was during the summer on a Tuesday at mid day. It still took about half an hour.

When I lived in Lafayette (my home town) we always hoped there wasn't a 100+ car long freight trained crossing downtown!! I hear that they recently relocated some of the tracks.

I know exactly what your talking about. Some of the downtown crossings have been elevated so the train will pass under. However there still is that RR crossing on 26 right before 52. That crossing sucks to get stuck at no matter how long the train is.
