Information about Lexington, Indiana (crime, middle school, live)

My wife and I are moving in a few months to Lexington, Indiana. My mother recently bought property there and a home, so we want to be near eachother. My dad lives in nearby Louisville, so we decided to make the move. We were wondering if anyone could give us information about Lexington? My questions are:

1. How safe is the area? (crime rate)
2. How friendly of an atmosphere is it?
3. How are the schools in Lexington?

I have lived in lexington indiana since I was nine years old. I'm 26 now. In those years there has not been one crime commited in this town. The atmosphrere is very friendly in this small town. Everyone knows everyone. The only school in Lexington is an elementary school grades k-5. Middle school and high school students go to school ten miles away in near by scottsburg.
