Hi asianstudent,
I have never lived in Vincennes, but all of my family is from that area. I think there used to be many Chinese students studying English there, but I don't know if that is still the case. Vincennes is a small, friendly, but kind of poor and boring place to live. It is very rural, and not close to any large cities - Indianapolis is about 2 hours away, and Saint Louis is about 3 hours away - and neither of those cities have large Asian populations. If you are looking for a quiet place to study, it might be alright. The weather is hot in the summer, cold in the winter, beautiful in spring and fall. Good orchards nearby - the best peaches and watermelons in the Midwest. Good festivals, and lots of history. But it is a pretty old town - not many young people outside the university, and not very worldly.

Good luck with your search -

Have you checked out the City-Data.com site? They provide a ton of information about cities.

http://www.city-data.com/city/Vincennes-Indiana.html

Races in Vincennes:

* White Non-Hispanic (93.9%)
* Black (3.3%)
* Hispanic (1.0%)
* Two or more races (0.9%)
* American Indian (0.6%)

Crime information is nearly at the bottom of that page.

Dear above 2 members,

Thanks for your help. I have checked the VU website and city data. The crime rate seems quite high in Vincennes.

Anyway, thanks again

In 1969 I went to VU for two semesters. I really didnt like alot of the non transferable courses only offered and honored at VU, and also required at VU. I later transferred to Indiana Univ. because of that reason. I dont like working hard for nothing.

I believe that fixed....recently. Course credits now generally transfer between all public universities in Indiana -including Vincennes.

If you still need information on Vincennes, I would be glad to assist you. I grew up 9 miles from there, and worked downtown for 15 years. Just ask away.....

Dear aus10

Yes, I am still searching information about Vincennes. Can you recommend some web sites about this city, photos of this city. I hope you can help me because my research is limited only in city-data.com.

Thanks a lot
