Default Anyone Else Having Problems Getting Speedy Title From The BMV?

Anyone else having problems with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles getting speedy title to a motor vehicle? We paid an extra $25 fee to get a 'speedy title' in 3 days and it has now been 4 weeks and still no title. Every time we contact the BMV to inquire about where our speedy title is, they claim it was mailed out to us several days ago.

At this point I am persuaded that there is no such thing as 'speedy title' in Indiana.

My mom and brother have both had problems getting the renewal sticker for their plates. Sounds like the department needs a major overhaul.

THEY JUST HAD ONE!!! I think it's our governor's next privatization ploy. Make service so horrible that everyone will say that it can't be run any worse by an outside company!

Speedy is not something I use with the words "Indiana BMV." I would definitely be asking for my extra $$$ that I shelled out since they didn't come up with the title in the promised 3 days.

I hate the BMV.

Yeah the BMV is now awful, we just got a new one, and now it's so crammed packed it is not funny. It use to be grab a number sit 5 - 10 minutes, go do your stuff you're done. Now it's grab a number IF you can get to the number thing, after that find a seat, IF there is one... Then wait for another 30 - 50 minutes. The time it takes to get out of there has increased so much it's just annoying. Ever since the BMV offices closed we've had so many more people here I don't like it one bit. It's so awful.

Default Bad Bad BMV

I have one vehicle that has been "tagless" since July.

It's a car that is rarely/never driven, so I'm not too concerned about it. I have my cancelled check, but for some reason, despite numerous phone calls and e-mails (that get ignored!) the BMV has yet to send me an 07 tag.

I keep a copy of the cancelled check in the glove-box just-in-case.

At this point, I'll probably just wait til July of this year and try for an 08 tag. Hopefully the BMV will have their computer "upgrades" ironed out by then.

the BMV has refused to refund the $25 Speedy Title fee and has still not come up with the title.

I think some nicely worded letters to the editor and some phone calls to the local TV stations might help to get things moving on this issue. The media is all over BMV issues right now, so your timing would be perfect.

I hope you have documented every phone call, e-mail, and any other communication with the BMV. I learned to do that trick when I was dealing with an insurance company that didn't want to pay out my claim.

Good luck.

Sadly, the title is for a business vehicle but obviously the Buyer can't use it for his business without a title and plate.

I think this is also a perfect forum for letting the Governor know that his BMV is very ill and in need of a major overhaul.

But wait, Shrek, don't you remember the BIG overhaul they had a year ago? The one the former BMV chief, that Silverman guy, was in charge of and proceeded to blame the previous administration because it didn't go well? Are you telling me the BMV needs yet another overhaul with this new guy in charge?

I still think this is a ploy for the administration to justify privatizing the BMV.
