I think Indiana is such an under rated and miscategorized state. Every year I fly into either Indy or Louisville and just explore, especially S Indiana. I love the rivertowns like New Albany and Madison, I love little gems like Jasper. I love the hills, the covered bridges, the brick buildings, and mostly, I love her people. They are so salt-of-the-earth. I remember walking around in smalltown Indiana and I passed a barber shop with a sign in the window that said "Smoking Here" which was basically a slap to all those "No Smoking" signs, and I LOVED that. I don't smoke, but it was that spirit, that "silently roll up your sleeves and get it done" spririt, that "this is who we are" spirit. Maybe it's a Midwest thing for me, and now that I live so far away I miss it, but there is a sort of kinship there that "I get." If I don't end up living there, I would most certainly retire there.

Oh gosh, I always enjoy Indiana and meet such wonderful people. In fact, when I visit family in Chicago this summer/fall, I'll probably take a side trip for a few days!

I would suggest going to Turkey Run State Park. Very lovely park with lots of hiking biking trails, plus you have Rockville a few miles down 41. Lots of little local shops and great food. Billie Creek Village is just outside Rockville. Very similar to Connor Prairie in Fishers.

There isnt much I like about this state to be honest. I think the dunes are pretty neat, Bloomington is an interesting town, and people are pretty good drivers for the most part. Other than that...yuck.

I second Turkey Run! It's like "Chutes and Ladders": the Live Version. Always have a blast when we hike there.

Right now, I am loving the spring weather, the flowers and just the lush good green-ness of everything.

I am grateful for our low cost of living during these turbulent times. I'm glad I live in an area where farmers still work and produce and I have the opportuniity to "shop locally".

I am totally digging all of the great new mountain bike trails in the state (props to hmba.org!) including the gems in BCSP and Versailles.

I also am a fan of Three Floyds....and Capriole cheeese!

I grew up in Hessville so I'm pretty familiar with Gary. I haven't been there in a long time other then taking the south shore through every day. It's in pretty bad shape. I have to say though, I don't think Gary is nearly as bad as parts of Arkansas.
