3 Rivers puts you in walking distance to quite a few bars and nightclubs, as well as restaurants, but be prepared to get tired of those places soon. Some great and not so great places close to 3 Rivers are:
Bars:
The Saloon: Attached the a Hall's Restaurant, it is frequented by politicos, city workers, and folks who don't want to go anywhere in the next 40 years.
J.K O'Donnell's: Overpriced trendy beer and food, supposedly Irish pub-inspired. Gets crowded, hot, and too expensive for the service.
Columbia Street West: a live music orientated night club.
Flashbacks: dance night club.
Henry's: A more restaurant-like pub, kind of artsy, at least by Fort Wayne's standards.
O'Sullivan's: Frat boy bar.
Brass Rail Tavern: Punk/Rock music venue bar, sometimes called the CBGB's of the MidWest.
Mad Anthony's: Restaurant style bar, decent microbrew, decent food.
Restaurants:
The Dash In: coffee shop/bistro, mostly sandwiches. If memory serves me it closes really early, I don't even remember it being open for dinner.
Toscani Pizza: decent pizza joint
Pint and Slice Pizza: pizza joint that uses natural ingredients, known for having art shows and live music, serves beer.
Cindy's Diner: Closes at 2 pm, but if you get there early, you won't be sorry, the breakfast is great.
A whole strip of fast food joints along Washington and Jefferson, close to the library.
Go to the Main Library Branch! It is one of the best libraries in the country.
Haven't been there lately, but I hear it is getting pretty happening because of that new minor league baseball stadium.
Honestly, I think 3 Rivers is too much for what they offer, but if you have the cash, then go for it. It isn't a bad area, just be sure to have a car to get to other parts of the city. Fort Wayne is a very suburban feeling city, except in the downtown area, and it is kind of spread out. If you have any other questions, go ahead and send me a message, I don't live there now, but I go back often, and still have friends and family there.
