Default South Shore Line

I was curious which towns were the best to live in near or on the South Shore Line?

Chesterton is the closest nice town. Valparaiso is south of the SS Line station in Chesterton.

If you're loooking to live in Lake County, check out Munster, Highland, Schereville. The Hammond and East Chicago stops aren't too far away

Cool. Only one more question. What is the economy in that area based on? Are there jobs in that area or does everyone go to Chicago or? I have tried to look for jobs there, but there doesn't seem to be all that much that turns up.

I can't really help you with that one, but it seems NWI needs an "economy makeover". I would think that many the high paying jobs are in Chicago, but I could be wrong. However, I don't really see how anyone can make big money here (except for construction).

Please, please, please think and research carefully before moving to that area. I grew up and lived in Elkhart for the past 20 years, and it is filthy in EVERY way and is just getting worse. I moved out to Wyoming less than a year ago because I have 2 babies now and absolutely will not have them grow up in the area that I did.
