Default Any tips on getting through to Indiana Unemployment office?

My husband filed online (we live in Illinois but the company he worked for was based in Indiana) and got a message that he had to call in his claim. He tried calling but it would just disconnect him if he couldn't reach a live person. He tried emailing them and got a message back that said he needed to file again on line. He did that and they said he needed to call in his claim . . . here we go again . . . He has been been trying to get through to file his claim since mid June. Other than driving to Indiana next week and looking for an unemployment office, we don't know what to do. It takes a week to hear back from them when you email so that is not a terribly effective system.

I am not certain what part of Indiana, but this is the number I call in Ft. Wayne: 260-745-3555. I typically call around 11 a.m. and immediately press 0. If I get her voice mail then I call about every 15 minutes until I get in touch with the operator.

If you're close to the Terre haute office and that's the one you're trying to reach, you're better off just going biting the bullet and going there in person. The phones are almost never answered even if you have a direct extension #.

We've never had that problem with the Terre Haute office. Went down there the day my husband was RIF'ed and they helped him get set up. When they had an employer coming in to do on-site interviews the VA rep called dh and told him to highlight his military and security experience and get down to the office. I had much the same type of experience with them four years ago when the plant I was working in was shut down even though I'm not a Vet or any other special treatment type group. I've heard horror stories about the Marion county offices but Vigo county is fabulous. Seriously the only downside to their office has is the non existant parking. There is a parking garage nearby and a couple of the nearby hotels 'look the other way' from what I understand of it. We are blessed to have friends who live nearby so we park at their home and walk a few blocks.
