I'd have to say Nashville is beautiful, Jasper is a very clean nice town to live if you have money, Newburgh is another really nice town but again most have money there as well as alot of retired people live there so may not be the best if you have children, but it is safe and evansville isn't far, you also have to be careful, people aren't as friendly in the northern part of the state as they are in the southern part., not that everyone is rude but i have family that still lives in the northern part that really want to move to the southern because they say the people are so much friendlier. They are also having problems with the economy in alot of places in all of indiana. Our state doesn't seem to be faring all that well in alot of dif jobs. Good luck to you. It's not a bad state..most places you don't have to worry about crime but to be honest with you..we have very little to do..very little scenery..you almost have to go to very specific towns to get that. Most of whatyou will see is corn fields.

Yorktown has the small town look with an excellant school system. It is near enough to larger areas that shopping is easily reached, yet you can return to your quiet lifestyle in Yorktown within 15 minutes. Kids ride bikes to the gas station for fountain pop and candy and people know their neighbors and know the kids are safe. I have lived here since 1964. Crime rate is very, very low. Check out our video on youtube.com under Yorktown, Indiana.

<MOD EDIT BLOG ADDRESS>
After reading that blog, I feel the writer should run for mayor or some city government job in Salem. They are standing at the window looking out. They need to walk outside and make a differnce. They must have some compassion for Washinton County that they would like to see a change. My suggestion is get a group of people together and sit down write out a plan maybe even a survey and send it out to the local and or county residents and have them fill it out send it back in, in a already stamped envelope. If you do not get a lot of reply's back go from door to door. Show the people you really care about Washinton County and you mean business. We are all guilty of watching things just deteriorate(SP?). Like President Obama says: it's time for change! Anyhoo, just my two cents.

Valparaiso is just great! I lived there in the past and highly recommend it. It has a great community feel and a University.

I find it quite intriguing how much ideas about what make a small town vary. I was looking through some of these suggestions and kept thinking, "That's a big town!"
