DG & Other Southern Indiana Members- How Are You?
Meant to ask earlier but I'm battling a migraine and two super grouchy kids since they announced National Night Out has been cancelled.
I'm looking at the weather reports and the road reports and am wondering how people are holding up? Especially in Columbus, the Republic is showing video and road reports and it's sounding like conditions could start to bring up very bad memories down your way. They said so far only the parking lot at CRH has flooded and it was receeding, but that people outside columbus proper have had to be rescued from their cars & homes. I can't imagine that's going to be very easy on the mental health of those still healing from last year.

hey, mkat, thanks for asking. I meant to get on here last night and ask the same. During the worst of the storm the power was out for a few hours at my workplace, but oddly enough remained on at my house (which goes out at the drop of a pin). I've heard rumors that a tornado touched down in Ellettsville but nothing reported in today's paper. I guess after the flash flooding in 2008 this was really nothing in comparison. Big trees down in northern parts of Bloomington and Monroe County from what I can tell. I do know as I drove home from my central Bloomington office to my southern Monroe County house it seemed as if the southern part of the county faired better.

Some localized flooding here in Columbus this morning (Haw Creek is up) and the usual areas are wet (the parks). So far nothing like the flood in '08.
Yesterday's flooded roads seemed to occur in low-lying areas where we expect some water, and they flooded during the storms and seemed to drain quickly as the storms passed.
In 2008 we had a huge storm in the morning, then sunny, hot, beautiful weather the rest of the day. The flooding didn't start until the water in the Northern part of the state started flowing downstream. It was very surreal.
Today we watch and wait.
Hope to hear from DG soon. I know some people lost power yesterday.

Yeah I was supposed to get to come down to Columbus this weekend but hubby has asked me to wait and go on his next day off, to give the water a chance to settle {and because he wants Captain D's but he won't say that part out loud, silly man }
It looks like most of the worst of the flooding was south of Columbus this time so hopefully it won't take a turn like last year. Hubby's boss drove from Terre Haute to Evansville Monday to turn in time sheets and so forth and was going somewhere else in the southern part of the state yesterday. Exact location escapes me but it was far enough from Evansville for the company to pay hotel fees. When he got to the town the police directed him straight to the hotel, he couldn't get to the job site due to flooding. I have family in the Floyd's Knobs area but most of them live up in the hills with only man-made fishing ponds for bodies of water so I'm assuming they're alright.

Reason: I put silly man with a close caption at the end and it was asteriked out. Fixed it so people didn't think I cussed.

How sad is it we're probably a year out from being able to move to Columbus and the republic is one of 3 tabs that open automatically whenever I log into my computer?
Since I'm relatively new to tracking life in columbus, I do have one question OT- Has Irwin experienced losses like those in today's paper before or is it a symptom of the economy and the recent job cutbacks at Cummins?

I'm here, I'm here. My normal computer freaking DIED ON ME!!! We lost power from about 6am - 8:30 and when I tried to log in, big fat bupkis. So here I am on my husband's pc ... I'm just used to mine
Yea, yesterday was a royal pain in the keester. Power outages when it's still dark out mean one thing ... SCREAMIG HYSTERICAL CHILDREN!!! Oy ... I did manage to get out between 11-1 between storm fronts to run errands (plaidmon, I'm completely addicted to the double oak market!). No flooding in my 'hood, but I bet anderson falls is pretty out of control right now. It looks like the south side of the county and points southward got it a lot worse than us. When we were out and about between storms, everyone I encounted kept looking westward with these glassy "oh no, not again" looks. Can't say that I blame them.
