I ended up staying in Bedford.
I was impressed by everything I saw, and didn't see, in the Bloomington, Bedford, Bloomfield area. To me, this area is a great place to settle.
I went for a job interview, but won't hear anything for a while.
Anyway:
The highways are nice, except for Indy traffic on the loop and I-70 (but that was expected)
The Holiday Inn Express in Bedford is nice, but a little costly for the area. Even so, I'd recommend it.
You can go in a store, ask for help and actually get help. In the major metro areas where I've lived over the last 15 years or so, you can't do that.
The people are nice. They say hello when you say hello. The let you out in traffic (well not in Indy, but oh well). This reminded me of GA where I grew up.
Property/home value seems about right. Not dangerously cheap. Not mega-inflated.
Do you guys in SW IN hunt deer? There sure are a bunch of them everywhere. That's good and bad. Good for hunters. Bad for driving at night.
I may be having a conversation with myself in this thread, but I really enjoyed the trip. I'm sure it's not a perfect place to live, and there's things I can't find out in a simple visit and a few conversation with locals. But, that's the case with anywhere you move.
