north salem area (Plainfield: live, mall, metro)

im from michigan city indiana and my boyfriend is having an airsoft competition in north salem indiana on saturday. I am going with him because this thing is 12 hours long and he has to work on sunday in the morning so i have to drive back. My grandma lives in kokomo but she will be gone for the day in indy. I am not familar with driving in indy. Is there anything to do around north salem area? is there a town that has a mall? I just need something to do for 12 hours. If anyone knows of anything to do around that area please let me know. Thanks

My husband grew up in North Salem, and we lived there for about 8 months---the worst 8 months of our married lives! It's a town of about 600 people! I laughed when I saw your post asking about something to do there! Go to the Red Dog, have a drink and let the locals stare at you for a few hours?(The Red Dog does have awesome steaks though!) Really nothing there. A mall did recently open in Plainfield--the Metropolis- or something like that. It will probably take you aoubt 30-45 minutes from North Salem to get there.
