Default The Real Scoop...

Been here all my life and I can tell you anything about our city. Others told you about Southwest Schools...don't go there. Rumor is (from those who have went there), many students get into lots of trouble and do drugs. Good schools and teachers though. I suggest Northwest A. C. Schools. Indiana as a whole on education is not good! We have much over-crowding in the classrooms. Anywhere from 25-35 children. Indiana has the highest drop out rate. Our govenor will not spend any money on schools here and claims that Indiana spends too much on it. This is why I plan to move to a diffrent state (teacher).
Yes, we do have our bad sides of town like all other cities. I wouldn't live in the SE area but I have never had any problems driving in, near, or through it. It is one of our poorest areas with very little shopping except a HUGE Walmart. I live in a low income area and I have never had a problem here (center of city).
Jobs are hard to get here. However, if you have technolgy, bussin., medical, or computer skills, you can do okay here. If you lack in high tech skills or have a degree in education, good luck.
The weather changes much here and we have short summers.
Go back to this forum site (Indiana) and read what I had posted with "More on Fort Wayne." There you will see many good things about our city.
It is very affordable here. Many things to choose from. People are moving here due to job transfers I think. People are moving from here due to the lack of jobs. If I stayed in Fort Wayne and could move, I would chose to move to the northwest or the country. We are planning to move towads the Smokies. I hoped this helped. If you have anymore questions, ask. P.S. have a good trip here.

Never lived in Ft Wayne but have visited family there twice. Ok, they're actually in the Waterloo/Auburn area but close enough. The area is beautiful and my Aunt in Law has a great garden, ten times better than what we can grow here in Phoenix. If my employer had business there I would relocate in a heart beat. STAY AWAY FROM GARY INDIANA THOUGH!

Almost forgot to mention that Ft Wayne Roller Dome is on the terrorist list if you can beleive that! Ha!

Amyfw is right on.....DO NOT GO to Southwest Allen Couty School Systems, definately go to Northwest Allen co. Trust me, I know from experience. The job and real estate market is pretty bad there, too. But overall Fort Wayne is a great place to raise a family. I moved away from there 3 years ago and miss the "normal people and lifestyle" that is there.
