MOVING to Winslow, Huntingburg, Jasper area... (Washington, Petersburg: apartments, to rent, home)

HELLO, I'm originally from Washington, IN and I have been living in Hawaii for a few years.

My spouse and I have purchased land in White Oak Lake area and hope to build a log home there. We would like to hear 'comments' on this area.

Also, we will need to rent a nice apartment for anywhere from 6 months to 1 1/2 year(s). We would like something 'upscale' with a fireplace and patio or deck. Any recommendations??? I have printouts from Ewing Properties that look very high-quality. The only other listings I found are just phone numbers and addresses. I have written to about 18 places, but mail to/from here in Hawaii is unbelievably SLOW! Any 'insider' info would be appreciated!!!!

I'm from Petersburg, IN and have family in Washington (The Cannon's), and friends in White Oak and throughout Pike County.

White Oak, from what I've seen, is nice and hidden from everything. The locals know every dirt road, rock road, fishin' hole, and all the other jazz. And, for the most part, they are all pretty friendly. If you bought property on or near the lake you'll love it. The fishing is great there.

There are some nice apartments in Petersburg. Newly built. I think rent is $450-$650. Somewhere in that price range.

They are owned by Mike Voyles, who also owns Voyles Shopworth (Used to be Voyles IGA). If you are to contact him, tell him you're interested in his apartments behind the Jay-C Store.

Hi I just bought in the area also? I grew up in Petersburg and have lived in Arizona for many years. We are building a summer home there to escape the heat. Where is your lot located?
