Default Champion Windows and Doors

Has anyone had this company work on their home and were satisfied witht he results. Or is there another Company that is just as good or very comparable regarding their product? I didn't realize how VERY expensive Champion is and I didn't know I would have to sell my organs to pay for their product and services. Any input would be helpful. I was hoping that their cost would be under two thousand dollars but it was more like eight thousand instead!!! Does it usually cost this much? We are having one bay window completely replaced, two medium size windows completely replaced, and one door but not a main door. I know they are top quality product and services but I was hoping for a ton less for costs but having quality windows and a door installed.

If you're handy, why not purchase the products and install yourself? OR, find an insured handyman and have him (or her!) install them for you! I priced vinyl windows at Home Depot the other day and they range from $125-$180 per window, depending on the style and size without tilt (didn't want it personally).... just a thought!

Exterior Home Improvement just did our windows and door. Expensive but you might give them a call. I would rate them AAA in service and quality. They had a variety of windows and doors and their installers were great.

They will explain the energy credit and what qualifies etc. Their contracts are very very specific and detailed.

Other than Champion, there's also Pella - but prices for them can be high as well (they have low to high end stuff). The nice thing about those companies is that you know they will stand behind their products and have intelligent installers.

That, stated, having owned homes for years, my advice is to shop around carefully as prices vary tremendously for what essentially is the same product (product and service markups are unbelievable on windows). Definitely go to Menard's, Lowe's, or Home Depot to see how much good quality windows they sell cost.

If you're at all handy I'd also entertain the notion of installing your own windows - it's not nearly as difficult as some people believe and you'll save a fortune. One final piece of advice... if you do conduct a search for an installer, be cautious as there's a lot of bad handymen around (definitely call references).
