Default Purdue conservative? or liberal?

I've always had an impression that Purdue was a fairly conservative institution. I tended to believe it was more conservative that IU, Ball State, Indiana State, U of Michigan, etc.

I'm just asking to find out if thats really true, or if I've had a misperception all along.

So if you have any thoughts about Purdue or W.Laf. please share. Thanks.

It's a town of engineers, so it is likely to be less liberal that schools with a humanities focus--this is of course a broad generalization. Same can be said with Lafayette/West Lafayette. Tippecanoe County still went for Obama though, so my suspicion is that, while greater Lafayette is conservative for a college town, all in all it's more middle of the road.
