Default Schools -- zoning questions

I think I have figure out that I want University Elementary, Jackson Creek Middle and Bloomington North High School. Does that sound right to those that live there?

And if that is right, is that possible the way zoning works? And do you automatically go to the school with the zone you live in.

Another words, if I pick a house based on the school zone, am I guaranteed to go to that school or is choice involved, etc.

And if that group of schools sounds right, can you recommend some neighborhoods. I'm going to need a rental at first, but Executive type home. 4 bedroom, 2500 square feet-ish...

Thanks again. I love that I can count on City-Data as we do our job search/relocating.

You can't be in the University school area and Jackson Creek. University students, unless they are in the GT program, go to Tri-North from University and then to BHSNorth. The vast majority of rentals in the University area are geared towards IU students. That's not to say you won't find a home to rent there, but generally it will be smaller than you've indicated.

All of Lakeview and Childs feed into Jackson Creek. I think all of Templeton feeds into Jackson Creek. Some of Rogers/Binford does also.

I've expressed my opinion on this forum numerous times on the two high schools. Having had one graduate from South and one child there now, I can honestly say I would be happy with either high school. Both attended Jackson Creek. I would say Jackson Creek doesn't really live up to the hype. I think my kids would have done just as well at Bachelor. Tri North's scores have been rising due to some redistricting a couple of years ago. I've heard good things about it recently.

This link is kind of hard to find on the mccsc website: MCCSC Attendance Areas (http://www.mccsc.edu/info/attareas.html - broken link)
