Hi ler0719!

I'm a little late getting to this post, but domergurl is right - New Albany is a great town and they are doing so much revitalization too. It's still got that quaint small river town feel with gorgeous older houses, but still just a very short drive to Louisville. I would definitely recommend checking that area out, when you visit. I think you will find it absolutely charming. I'm in love with it there, can ya tell? Ha.

Hi ler0719

I don't know if you have found anywhere to move to yet, but I can tell you that I worked in Louisville for 8 years and live in the far east end of Clark county Indiana. Our school system is the Greater Clark County Schools out here in the New Washington, Bethlehem area. Our schools are somewhat smaller than Jeffersonville, New Albany, etc., but they are great. The kids get a great deal of one on one with the teachers. We have small communities here and each watch out for the others. Almost everyone knows who is who and it gives a parent a feeling of protection. If there is someone strange in the area talking to our children everyone who would see it would question it. I think it is a good area to raise children. The cost of living here is good. You will probably find a garden in most every yard. We do alot of farming out here and there is just nothing like that first fresh tomatoes of the season. If you want information that you can't find in any census or websites just email me or post a reply and I would be happy to answer any questions for you.

Hi! Your post is from last year. Did you make the move? I am from Long Island and love living in Corydon, Indiana. Cox's Creek and Bardstown, KY were nice too.

Dennis

I don't know if you have made your decision yet, but I currently live in Scottsburg. It has it's pluses and minuses. It depends where you chose. We don't have much here, which can be a favorite for some. We have a superWalmart and a few other small shopping stores.

What I can say is it is great for the kiddos. I am a mother of four: 7, 6, 3, and 1. And we are actively involved in activities all year round. Our Y is small, but in a big way. I think it is great, because everyone knows me. They have a great child watch program and tons of free or $5 per family events. I can tell you so much more if you need, but if you do decide you are definately moving to southern Indiana, please check out our site: www.SEIndianaMommies.com You can get all your info there through the help of other mommies.
