Newburgh is clean and cheap. I've lived here for fifteen years. If you want acreage, check the yankeetown area by Alcoa or western portion of Newburgh. Good luck living here. I've been trying to get out for the fifteen years I've been here! I'd like to make a living playing music and that is definitely NOT an option here. Plus I hate snow!

Yeah, but it's the perpetual freezing rain and 3 inches of solid ice for four months straight that really annoy me.

I guess the climate will be ok. Pretty much the same as I already have it here, but a little warmer in spring and summer.
I decided to rent only for a very short time until I find a house to buy. Renting is expensive compared to buying. So I already found a few houses for sale I would be interested in.
Thanks for the tips on neighborhoods. For me that city will be real good, because I will be close to the city for work. That is the only reason. For play, there is a huge archery club in Newburgh and a muzzleloader Club in Evansville. So there is plenty to do for me :-)) And if the neighbors are not too close, all the better!

the weather is really actually very good here. we did get a bad ice storm the last couple of winters (what the poster was referring to). but these didn't really last compared to what other places can get in terms of ice/snow.

good luck with your move and welcome
