Default Tell City Indiana

I need some infomration on this area. Actually this town!
About 20,ooo people and have been a great "boomer".

I think this is another hot spot straight South. I want to know about property prices with a nice water view? How much.

Would like to spend the next ten years there and relax. Would love to be on a decent piece of Land.

Need information on how "new people " are treated. Welcomed?
This town is on its way up and climbing. I want to be a part of that. What can you share?

I graduated from Tell City High School in 1987. Wasn't much smaller then than it is now.

It's a lazy little town along the (nasty) Ohio River. Not much property "on the water" in Tell City. A few up and down the road between TC and Troy and in Cannelton. Those are TEENY TINY towns. Troy has a population of about 500 I think, but it's only 3 miles from TC.

When I was there, (and I don't think it has changed much)... it was ALL WHITE. No diversity what-so-ever. Very racist town. I loved living there then (but I wasn't concerned about much then... it was safe and that's what I cared about...)... now, diversity is very important to me. I hate racism and what it brings.

There is NOTHING to do there if you don't like to boat on the river. They have Sweitzer Fest every August (it's a German town) and that's always fun. They block off the street in front of the court house and have a Beer Garden and they have some small rides and games for kids and they sell "carnival food".

People are pretty friendly there (as long as you are white). Well... that's how it was then anyway... I don't think it has changed much, but I hope it has (with respect to racial tendencies).

Hope this helps some. Don't think property is too expensive either... but like I said, you won't find "nice big lots" on the river unless there has been some demolition since I left.

Question Thanks

I appreciate your honesty and words of wisdom.
My job often requires me to relocate and this was an area a job is being offered.

I have not heard much recently, still waiting for my interview.

Thanks for the comments.

Cavewoman, if a job is offered to you in this area, you should check out Owensboro , Ky. Its not terribly far away, and is much friendlier to racial minorities. Also, Owensboro is easily four times as populous as tell city, with all the conveniences that you would expect, in a town of 80k pop.
