There is also the Three Rivers Festival in July in Fort Wayne, Swiss Days the last full weekend in July in Berne, and Grabill Days in September. Also, you could check out Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne in September.
The best eating in the state though happens the first week of October in Evansville. The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival on Franklin Street. It is suppose to be only second in size to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. And with all the destruction in NO with Katrina, the Fall Festival may have moved into first place. |

there are all kinds of interesting and fun things to do in Indiana (depending upon what turns you on). for example, you can watch a bunch of blue Robin eggs hatch in the nest and mother Robin caring for her babies.

In Albion, about a half-hour drive northwest of Fort Wayne, is a wonderful exotic animal refuge:
http://www.blackpineanimalpark.com/ NE Indiana is lake country. You have to have some deep pockets to buy a lake home, but there are vacation rentals available. Many of the lakes have public boat lauches and some bigger lakes have marinas where you can tie up for the season. |

The best thing to do is be inquisitive and wander Indiana, you will find little hidden gems where ever you go and just get off the main roads and travel the little beaten tracks, you will be surprised. Read about the history of the state and go find the site where something happened. You will be surprised most are within a days drive to there and back sometimes less, and doesn't have to cost a fortune except for the gas.

While some might question the 'fun' factor, I like going to Battleground park and walking the trails with my children and then having a picnic down the road at Fort Ouiatenon on the Wabash river. Right by the Fort is also a place that you can rent some canoes for a trip down the river.
Also, Oct 13-14 is the Feast of the Hunter's Moon at the Fort. Here's a link to it: Feast of the Hunters' Moon Something else my family does has already been mentioned. Get in your car and drive the back roads. |

My folks visited the Tulip Tressle last summer. It's apparently one of the longest in the world ... they thought it was pretty neat.

The Blueberry Festival in Plymouth is a good time every year during Labor Day.
