I can't help but think on the heels of today's announcement that Elkhart County has officially turned the corner. Today, Th!nk North America decided on it's final plans to locate in Elkhart, bringing 415 jobs with it by 2013. This isn't the first company to do so. In May, Electric Motors Corporation finalized plans to bring 1,600 jobs to the Wakarusa/Nappanee area by 2012. Last of all, Navistar, who took over the Monaco Coach franchise, is bringing around 700 jobs by 2012 to work on electric vehicles and recreational vehicles there as well. I know this is a couple of years but is Elkhart County the new EV Capital of the World? I would think so, however, still around 70% of the RVs made in the United States are made here so maybe they will be known as the RV and EV Capital of the world.

This announcements comes days after Energy Inc, a green energy company, promised to bring 500+ jobs to Middlebury in Elkhart County. With RV sales on the rise, people of Elkhart County should be cautiously optimistic about what 2010 might bring.

415 jobs, swell. Seeing as over 10,000 are laid off in Elkhart's RV industry this could be a new start!

415 is better than 0 and it is a start. I highly doubt that all of those jobs are going to be replaced in one fell swoop.
