Moving from Washington to Indiana
Has anyone reading this ever moved from Washington State to Indiana.
How would you compare the cost of living. I know home prices are cheaper, but it sounds like they get you with property taxes and heating expenses.

washington to indiana
We had to move from the Seattle area to Bloomington but are leaving soon. Indiana is much cheaper than Seattle area, but Bloomington is kind of expensive, but nothing like out west... I don't know about taxes, we rented, and are buying in N Carolina. I am from the west (Montana/Idaho) and do not like Indiana...

I moved from Illinois to Indiana and thought the property taxes were cheap! But, that's beginning to change now as Indiana counties are in major reassessment heck and the natives are starting to revolt.

We're moving from the Puget Sound Area to N Indiana and the property taxes seem to be higher in IN. You can buy a lot more house for the money in IN and you get a full basement, too. The property tends to be much larger due to the need for septic fields and backup fields, as well as water wells. If you want trees you need to look for mature neighborhoods, not ones that have been created in the middle of former corn fields. Good luck on your move!

We are moving from Everett,WA to Evansville, IN and I have researched the cost of living differences. The cost of living in the Evansville area is 22% lower than Everett, WA and I will be making more per hour in E-Ville than I am in Everett. Also, we visited and gas and grocery charges are ALOT lower in IN. It seems like it will be a great place to live. I can't wait to get away from the traffic of the puget sound!
