Default Property taxes in Hamilton County!!

I just got my property tax bill the other day and noticed that it's gone up by almost 25%, has anyone else noticed this? What's the reason behind this huge tax hike? It's now higher than Northern VA or NC which amazes me so I was wondering if anyone had any information to share. I appreciate your input.

Marion County's taxes come out this week and they're supposed to be even worse than Hamilton county... OUCH... Thanks for mentioning the exemptions domergurl, I'll do that today. I'm just amazed at how high they have gotten.

Yeah, I have but we moved away to VA and then moved back in April, since moving back I hadn't filed for them yet. The previous owner of our house had filed for them so we're okay for this period, I just have to file for it for next year or whatever. I couldn't afford not to file for them. This is just an IN thing, I asked the folks in VA about it and they had no idea what I was talking about!

When we lived in Illinois, we didn't get property tax exemptions either, so I don't know, it could be a Hoosier thing.

We live in Fishers and our property taxes have gone down every year since 2000, not by much but we can't complain about our property taxes and we have no children in school here anymore, which is where most of our taxes go.

it's comforting to know that some fortunate homeowner received a tax decrease. Now that's a blessing in this tax increase environment.

does anyone know what the increase has been like in the Geist area? let me throw out a few areas in the Geist--Admirals Sound, Admirals Bay and Pointe.
