Indianapolis Zip Codes
Can anyone tell me about the neighborhoods in these zip codes? 46201,46204,46205,46219. We are going to be looking at homes in these areas next month but I wondered if anyone had any information I should know ahead of time? Thank you!

46201 is the neareast side of Indy. If you are looking at Cottage Home or Windsor Park or maybe Woodruff Place ok. From Woodruff place east is a problem area. There was a shooting at 12th and Tecumseh and there are other significant problem areas. Our biggest murder was at about 900 N. Hamilton. 7 people killed.
46202 is downtown as is 46204. There are old historic neighborhoods within these zips as well as Fall Creek Place (some of it) which is a revitalized area.
46205 is very iffy. There is a nice neighborhood, Meridian Park, around 33rd and Pennsylvania but you will have to check out all the areas here for yourself. But get too far away from this enclave and I would not live there. The upper end at 52nd from Meridian to the east goes from million dollar homes to homes for less than $100,000. The areas are just as varied in safety and renovation status.
46219 I think is the Irvington and surrounding areas. Here it is also very varied. You absolutely must check it out. Some areas are not "nice" and some are quite wonderful.
I think more in terms of neighborhoods than in terms of zip codes. Price will be a big factor as well as schools.

"Best" source is the mibor.com which is the multiple listing service. Not tied to one real estate company. Although you may be able to reach it thru the company website. Why not go directly to the source.

Wow. The MIBOR site is lousy. Sure it's the "official" site, but at the one I mentioned you can search based on more criteria - like lot size and school system.
The one I gave, which I am not affiliated with in any way, lets you search all the houses MIBOR offers, using more detailed criteria, and it shows the property taxes and the room sizes.
You can then contact whichever real estate agent you like, you don't have to provide any personal info up front, just search away...

Understood. However, I have a very real personal animosity towards most real estate "professionals" both due to buying and selling issues. I would want to have available a more general site and then branch out if I have to into other "owned by a real estate company" site or more specialized sites.
Once trust is lost, it is hard to get back.

You can do the same thing on FC Tucker's website, F. C. Tucker Co., REALTORS
Mibor is a great place to start out, especially if you don't know specific neighborhoods. Mibor lists the neighborhoods in the record. I used Mibor before we moved to the area and then after we visited, I used a more specific database.
