Marion County taxes
I apologize to the poster who said they were going up a lot. The news media said an average of 23-25%. Just got mine today and we went from $1700 to $2666. I have heard some were up over 100% again.
Still lower than New Jersey but will hit those hard who dont have the funds. I bet rents are increased also.

That's what I was telling you guys about Hamilton County. Ours went up 30%, It's just redicilous to go up that much, I don't care what they're building, how can you justify that kind of hike?

I read in one indystar story that one man's went from 1700 to 3200 during the last go around and now is 7000. Way way too much to swallow.

I guess the taxpayers in IPS are being especially hit hard.

wow---mine in Monroe County actually went down a bit this year, but that's because I think they finally realized that the part of our land in the flood plain isn't worth as much as if it was not in a flood plain.
In Monroe County many people in the city limits of Bloomington were especially hard hit 2-3 years ago. (some went up 50% or more) While some have gone up this year, it's nothing like 20-30%.

I remember Lake County going through the same shocker 5 years ago. I still remember 10 years ago living in suburban Chicago when our property taxes on our 220K house were over 10K ... I can't imagine what it would be now.

It's a mystery to me. I can't get a decent explanation from the Star. Here's what I find absolutely ridiculous ... MK residents protesting at the governor's mansion when he and his family refuse to live there ...

this is not good news for real estate sales in and around Marion County. why aren't realtors spreading that 'good news' of 25% to 100% tax increases?
I just had one realtor in Indy tell me "It's a seller's market". yeah right.
